Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
Dust your work surface lightly with flour. Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheets to smooth any creases, ensuring an even thickness.
Cut the brie cheese into small, bite-sized cubes, approximately 1-inch in size.
Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, divide the puff pastry into 3-inch squares. Each sheet should yield about 12 squares, depending on the size of the sheet.
Place one cube of brie cheese in the center of each square. If you're using jam, nuts, or herbs, add a small dollop of jam, a sprinkle of nuts, or a pinch of fresh herbs on top of the brie.
Bring the corners of the pastry square together over the brie, pinching them tightly to seal. Then, press along the edges to ensure there are no gaps.
Shape the sealed pastry into a neat ball or a mini package, ensuring it's tightly enclosed to prevent cheese leakage during baking.
Beat the egg in a small bowl to create the egg wash. Brush each sealed pastry with the egg wash for a shiny, golden finish.
If desired, sprinkle the tops with a pinch of sea salt or crushed nuts for added texture and flavor.
Arrange the Brie Cheese Bites on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15–20 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
Allow the bites to cool slightly on the baking sheet before serving, as the filling will be very hot.
Notes
Preventing leaks, serving the bites fresh, and reheating them properly are key tips for success.
